RECOMMENDED HOME INSULATION RVALUESInsulation level are specified by R-Value. R-Value is a measure of insulation’s ability to resist heat traveling through it. The higher the R-Value the better the thermal performance of the insulation. The table below shows what levels of insulation are cost-effective for different climates and locations in the home.

RECOMMENDED INSULATION LEVELS FOR RETROFITTING EXISTING WOOD-FRAMED BUILDINGS
Wall Insulation: Whenever exterior siding is removed on an Uninsulated wood-frame wall:

Drill holes in the sheathing and blow insulation into the empty wall cavity before installing the new siding, and
Zones 3–4: Add R5 insulative wall sheathing beneath the new siding
Zones 5–8: Add R5 to R6 insulative wall sheathing beneath the new siding.

Insulated wood-frame wall:
For Zones 4 to 8: Add R5 insulative sheathing before installing the new siding.

NEW CONSTRUCTION AND ADDITIONS
In most climates, you will save money and energy when you build a new home or addition if you install a combination of cavity insulation and insulative sheathing. Reduce exterior wall leaks by taping the joints of exterior sheathing and caulking and sealing exterior walls. Cavity insulation can be installed at levels up to R-15 in a 2 inch x 4 inch wall and up to R-21 in a 2 inch x 6 inch wall.

These help to reduce the energy that would otherwise be lost through the wood frame. The table below shows the recommended combinations. For more customized recommendations, see the Home Energy Saver.

Consider products that provide both insulation and structural support, such as structural insulated panels (SIPs), and masonry products like insulating concrete forms.

You should consider attic or roof radiant barriers (in hot climates), reflective insulation, and foundation insulation for new home construction. Check with your contractor for more information about these options.

Spray Foam Insulation NYC:

Summary: The Territory Sales Representative is a critical position within Spray Foam Insulation NYC. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for expanding our customer base; maintaining and building relationships with Builders customers; and for selling all types of energy efficient insulation to existing accounts in the New York & New Jersey Area. Sales Representatives must have existing current relationships with Builders in the New York & New Jersey area and must have some knowledge about Cost Effective Energy Efficient Sustainable Building. Essential Duties and Responsibilities — include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Service accounts in New York & New Jersey area
  2. Networking within our industry and related industries
  3. Sell all types of energy efficient insulation (Batts, Spray Foam, blown fiberglass)
  4. Review bid requirements thoroughly
  5. Perform in field take offs and have the ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications, and related documents and incorporate into estimate.
  6. Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  7. Communicating with customers, project managers and superintendents on design changes, value engineering, budget variation, and scheduling.
  8. Record and update job status for each client
  9. Ensures job completion and customer satisfaction.
  10. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  11. Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, satisfactorily, each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Must have knowledge in residential construction.
  2. Education and/or Experience — One to three years of estimating experience. A combination of training and experience may be considered in lieu of a four year degree.
  3. Mathematical Skills — Able to calculate data such as percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concept of basic algebra and geometry.
  4. Communication Skills — Able to communicate in writing at the proper level.
  5. Computer Skills — Proficient in Microsoft suite of office productivity software. Sales Force System proficiency within 30 days of assuming position.
  6. Analyze Information, Estimate, Plan, Research Technical Issues, Attention to Detail, Informing Others Frequently.
  7. Ability to create excellent working relationships with senior management
