What is a “board foot”? Spray Foam NY-NJ

The spray foam insulation industry refers to the terms “board foot” and “board feet” when they talk about how much yield or coverage their products. While some in the building industry may know what this refers to, others are unsure. Icynene’s Building Genius gives you the answer and let’s you learn how Icynene spray foam insulation offers the industry’s best board foot economics.

What is a board foot?

A board foot is considered as a square foot at one inch depth. This industry-standard measurement takes into account the square footage of the surface a licensed Spray Foam contractor will be spraying as well as how many inches of foam will be applied to the cavity/surface area. For anyone looking to determine the board feet of their project, first calculate the square footage of the surface being sprayed. Then multiply that number by how many inches of foam is required by the local building code.

Icynene spray foam insulation products offer some of the highest yields available.
